At ReConnect Hungary, The Hungarian Birthright Program, most of the time we are concerned with and committed to connecting young adults with their Hungarian roots. On Saturday, February 23, 2019 we will be connecting with as many people as possible to entice them to come out to enjoy our newest fun, fun, fun fundraiser at the American Hungarian Foundation (Hungarian Museum) in New Brunswick, NJ. We are combining fitness and fun to nourish our bodies and souls for this fundraiser by offering Yoga and Zumba classes as well as shakes, smoothies and delicious healthy bites to eat. The classes will be taught by professional instructors from NYC. Don’t be surprised if you hear your favorite upbeat Hungarian tune in Zumba class or a Liszt Ferenc piece beautiful enough to meditate to in Yoga class. We will be moving and shaking on the museum floor among the beautiful drawings and paintings of Hungarian artists Elena and Bertha Hellebranth as well as the magnificent permanent displays.

My whole life I felt like we were missing pieces to our Hungarian heritage. The only things passed down through the generations were the food and some family stories. After this trip, I feel like I got to fill in those gaps. I have a better sense of what it means to be Hungarian-American and I feel a stronger connection to my great grandfather.

I got a more thorough experience of Hungarian culture than if I would have traveled by myself...
